The Revel/Double Tree

The conversion of an older hotel into a combination apartment and modern hotel was a unique project for the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).

Hilton owners, Waterford-based 315 Trumbull Street Associates, LLC., partnered with Stamford-based RMS Companies to execute the transformation, with 315 Trumbull Associates continuing to own and operate the new Double Tree hotel and RMS Companies owning and operating the Revel apartments.

CRDA provided a $5.9 million loan to RMS for the creation of 147 studio and one-bedroom apartments on the top eleven floors of the building. The 315 Trumbull Associates received a $5.1 million loan for the renovation of 170 guest rooms on the eleven lower floors to comply with the Double Tree by Hilton brand. The total cost of the project was $29 million.

The former Sheraton-Hartford hotel was built in 1975 as part of the Hartford Civic Center complex.

The 2023 redevelopment of the former Hilton hotel continues the initial purpose. The Revel adds to the inventory of apartment options located in the city center, bringing more people within walking distance of downtown restaurants, Bushnell Park, and Dunkin’ Park in addition to events at the PeoplesBank Arena, Hartford Stage, and Pratt Street.
