Another component of CRDA’s legislation enables the authority to assist in economic development projects outside of the designated district boundaries and in contiguous towns in the Greater Hartford area when invited to do so.
Projects considered by this committee focus on those that strive to improve the quality of life and enhance the opportunities for those in the respective communities. These ventures may include Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) such as with the demolition and remediation of an abandoned welding plant and its grounds, rehabilitation of a shuttered foundry in an urban neighborhood to spur job creation for residents or working with a town on surveys that help with making prudent economic development decisions.
Towns may submit project proposals with a specific request of service from CRDA for consideration by the executive director and the board.
